Gas Connect Austria establishes a Network Development Plan each year. The needs of the market are the basis for the plan. 

E-Control Austria approved Gas Connect Austria’s Network Development Plan 2023 – 2032 in the course of the Coordinated Network Development Plan 2023 – 2032 on 31 May 2023. The Coordinated Network Development Plan exist in both German and English versions; any conflicts between them are unintentional. The official language of business shall be German. The binding language version shall be the German one. The English translation shall not be binding and is provided purely for information purposes. The transmission system operator accepts no liability for any variations in content or errors of translation.

Auctioning of incremental capacity between Austria and Czech Republic

Incremental capacity at IP Reintal was offered in the annual capacity auction on 4 July, 2022. No offer level resulted in a positive outcome, the incremental capacity process is therefore terminated.

Gas Connect Austria informs, that coordinated Decisions regarding incremental capacity project for the border between Austria and the Czech Republic IP Reintal were issued by the National regulatory authorities of Austria (E-Control) and the Czech Republic (ERÚ). According to Art. 25 (2) and Art. 28 (3) Regulation (EU) 2017/459 (NC CAM), Gas Connect Austria publishes the following documents:

Gas Connect Austria, together with adjacent transmission system operators, carries out the design phase for incremental capacity projects. From January 14, 2020 to February 14, 2020, you had the opportunity to comment on the below draft project proposals as part of a public consultation. Gas Connect Austria has received one response.

Draft project proposal for incremental capacity between Austria and Hungary

Gas Connect Austria inform that the milestone ‘Auctions & economic tests’ of the incremental capacity project between Austria and Hungary has been rescheduled to July 2022. Consecutive milestones as indicated in the provisional timeline in section D. of the above published draft project proposal shift by three years.

Auctioning of incremental capacity

According to ‚‚Decision No 05/2019 of the Agency for the Cooperation of Energy Regulators of 9 April 2019 on the incremental capacity project proposal for the Mosonmagyarovar interconnection point’ Gas Connect Austria plans an auctioning of incremental capacity jointly with the Hungarian transmission system operator FGSZ Zrt. on July 6, 2020. Find all relevant information on the auctioning in the published decision.

Find all relevant information on our auctions for new capacity of July 2nd 2018 at  entry point Überackern. The outcome of the economic test for the offer level that included incremental capacity is negative on the Austrian side of the interconnection point Überackern SUDAL.

Approval process for incremental capacity

Gas Connect Austria has submitted the below project proposals for incremental capacity projects to the Austrian regulatory authority:

The Austrian regulatory authority has approved the project proposal for an incremental capacity project at the interconnection point Überackern as submitted by Gas Connect Austria. The German regulatory authority has approved the project proposal for an incremental capacity project for the other side of the interconnection point as submitted by the German transmission system operator bayernets GmbH.

The Austrian regulatory authority has approved the project proposal for an incremental capacity project at the interconnection point Mosonmagyarovar as submitted by Gas Connect Austria. The Hungarian regulatory authority has not approved the project proposal for an incremental capacity project for the other side of the interconnection point as submitted by the Hungarian transmission system operator FGSZ Zrt.

Gas Connect Austria has submitted a project proposal for an incremental capacity project to the Austrian regulatory authority. The Slovenian transmission system operator Plinovodi d.o.o. has not submitted a project proposal for an incremental capacity project for the other side of the interconnection point. The authority proceeding for the approval of the project proposal has thus not been opened.
