Successful annual auctions in 2025

Gas Connect Austria successfully sold over 70 TWh of transport capacities at this year's annual auction — an increase of around 25% compared to last year. This high level of participation clearly demonstrates the European gas market's continued reliance on GCA's services and network.

High interest in key connections

Cross-border points running from west to east were in high demand once again:

  • Entry Oberkappel (DE → AT)
  • Entry Überackern ABG (DE → AT)

Bookings with Foresight

A significant portion of the booked capacities extends beyond the gas year 2025 – in some cases as far as 2030. This highlights the long-term market strategy of many customers and underscores Austria’s central role as a gas hub.

Mechanisms and Platforms

The auctions were conducted via the European platforms PRISMA and RBP. The proven ascending-clock-method was used, offering firm annual capacities. The results are transparently documented and available to all interested parties directly on the respective booking platforms.

Context and Outlook

"The results confirm our customers’ trust in our infrastructure and our role as a reliable partner in the European energy system," emphasises Claudia Kafka, Head of Customer Relationship Management at Gas Connect Austria.

We would like to thank our customers for their cooperation and active interest. We are already looking forward to the upcoming UK annual auctions, as well as the quarterly and monthly auctions.
