Austria consumes more gas in 2025 so far

Compared to the previous year, gas consumption in Austria in 2025 - particularly in spring - has risen significantly. This development underscores the still considerable importance of natural gas in the domestic energy mix. The outlook for the coming winter is also positive: thanks to well-filled storage facilities, supply is considered secure.

Austria as a Hub for Green Hydrogen

Gas Connect Austria welcomes the hydrogen initiative presented by Federal Minister Wolfgang Hattmannsdorfer. With investments in domestic production, a new import strategy to complement the national hydrogen strategy, and a clear commitment to the Southern Hydrogen Corridor, the Federal Government is sending a strong signal for Austria’s energy future.

Another step towards the foundation of ENNOH

Future hydrogen transmission network operators (HTNOs) are taking a further step towards the establishment of a European hydrogen umbrella organisation (ENNOH). A voluntary co-operation structure is to start work on the ENNOH goals.

Gas Connect Austria takes seat on ENTSOG Board with Valerie Hackl

At its 60th General Assembly on 12 December in Brussels, ENTSOG (European Network of Transmission System Operators for Gas) elected the management team for the term of office from 1 January 2025 to 31 December 2027.
